தன் மேல் எதிர்த்து வந்த பகைவரின் போரைத்தாங்கி, வெல்லும் தன்மை அறிந்து அவனுடைய தூசிப்படையை எதிர்த்துச் செல்லவல்லதே படையாகும்.

தன்மீது வந்த பகைவரின் போரைத் தடுக்கும் முறையை அறிந்து அவர்களில் முதலாவதாக வந்து சண்டையிடும் காலாட்படை ( தூசிப்படை, தேர்ப்படை, கொடிப்படை, முன்னணிச் சேனை என்றும் பெயர்) தன்மீது வராமல் தடுப்பதே படை.
