(True) knowledge is the perception concerning every thing of whatever kind, that that thing is the true thing
எப்பொருள் எத்தன்மையதாய்த் தோன்றினாலும் (அத்தோற்றத்தை மட்டும் கண்டுமங்காமல்) அப் பொருளின் உண்மையான இயல்பை அறிவதே மெய்யுணர்வு.
எந்தப் பொருளானாலும், அது எப்படிக் காட்சி தந்தாலும், அப்பொருளின் வெளித்தோற்றத்தைக் காணாமல், உள்ளடக்கமாகிய உண்மைப் பொருளைக் காண்பதே மெய்யுணர்தல்.
