சொல்லும் போது கேட்டவரைத் தன் வயப்படுத்தும் பண்புகளுடன், கேட்காதவரும் கேட்க விரும்புமாறு கூறப்படுவது சொல்வன்மையாகும்.
நண்பர்களைப் பிரிக்காமல் சேர்க்கும் தன்மையதாய்ப் பகைவரும் கேட்க விரும்புவதாய்ப் பேசவது சொல்லாற்றல். ( முன்பு கேட்டவர் மீண்டும் கேட்க, இதுவரை கேளாதவரும் விரும்பிக் கேட்கப் பேசுவது என்றும் கூறலாம்)
